The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Junior Engineer (JE) exam annually, providing a significant opportunity for engineering graduates to work in various government departments. The SSC JE 2025 exam is just around the corner, and aspirants are eagerly waiting for updates regarding exam dates, eligibility, vacancies, and the detailed syllabus. Suppose you are planning to appear for the SSC JE exam in 2025. In that case, this article will guide you through all the essential aspects, from eligibility criteria to the syllabus and expected vacancies.

    SSC JE Exam Date 2025

The official SSC JE Exam Date for 2025 has yet to be released, but based on previous years’ trends, the exam is typically held in February or March for Paper I, with Paper II following a few months later. Aspirants are advised to regularly check the official SSC website (ssc.nic.in) for updates on the exact dates.

The SSC JE exam is held in two stages:

    • Paper I: A Computer-Based Test (CBT) that includes objective-type questions.
    • Paper II: A Descriptive Paper that assesses candidates’ technical knowledge in engineering disciplines.

    SSC JE Eligibility Criteria 2025

Before applying for the SSC JE exam, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the Staff Selection Commission. The key factors that determine eligibility are age, educational qualifications, and nationality.

    Age Limit

The age limit for SSC JE 2025 varies depending on the post and category. Generally:

    • For General Category: Candidates must be between 18 and 32 years old.
    • For the OBC Category, the age relaxation is 3 years.
    • For SC/ST Category: Age relaxation of 5 years.
    • For PwD Category: Age relaxation of 10 years (13 years for OBC and 15 years for SC/ST).

The age calculation is based on the 1st of January 2025.

    Educational Qualifications

The educational qualification required for SSC JE varies according to the engineering discipline. Candidates must have a degree or diploma in one of the following disciplines from a recognized university or institute:

    • Civil Engineering: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
    • Mechanical Engineering: Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Electrical Engineering: Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
    • Quantity Surveying and Contract: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

Candidates must ensure they meet the required educational qualifications before applying, as applications from ineligible candidates will be rejected.

    Nationality

    Candidates must be:

    • A citizen of India, or

The Staff Selection Commission releases the number of vacancies for the SSC JE exam every year. While the exact number of vacancies for 2025 is not yet available, previous years have seen a significant number of vacancies across various engineering disciplines. In 2024, over 1,000 vacancies were available for junior engineers in different government departments.

The vacancies are distributed across various departments, including:

    • Central Public Works Department (CPWD)
    • Department of Posts
