When you are in the middle of your RBI Grade B preparation and look at the syllabus, you get the sudden urge to skip through everything and just prepare for the most scoring section in the RBI Grade B syllabus.

Let me reassure you that going through the most scoring subjects in the RBI Grade B syllabus is a good idea. I am telling you this because the RBI Grade B exam, or any competitive exam, is not just about hard work, but it’s more about smart work. So, instead of worrying about the entire RBI Grade B syllabus, you need to figure out which areas you should aim to score big in.

And I know what you are about to say, the RBI Grade B notification isn’t even announced yet, why are we discussing the most scoring section of the syllabus? It’s because, and I can’t stress this enough, you need to start your preparation months before the notification might be announced.

We will start the discussion by understanding the RBI Grade B syllabus first, and after that, I will tell you the most important scoring sections, and finally, we will have a brief discussion about the expected date of the RBI Grade B notification announcement.

Understanding the RBI Grade B Syllabus

The RBI Grade B syllabus is divided into three phases:

    • Phase 1: Objective MCQ-type paper (General Awareness, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English)
    • Phase 2: A mix of objective and descriptive papers (Economic & Social Issues, English Writing Skills, Finance & Management)
    • Phase 3 (Interview): Psychometric test followed by a panel interview

Each phase has its own weight, but your cumulative performance is what decides your final selection. So identifying the areas where you can score easily is extremely important.

While the full RBI Grade B syllabus can feel overwhelming at first glance, once you break it down and look at past trends, a few sections stand out as consistent score-boosters.

Most Scored Sections in RBI Grade B

Here’s where toppers usually score big, and where you can too:

    General Awareness (Phase 1)

This is a goldmine. With 80 questions out of 200, this section alone can give you a massive boost in Phase 1. Most of the questions are current affairs-based, especially from the last 4-6 months before the exam.

    Why is it scoring?

    • Factual questions, no calculations
    • With the right sources (like RBI website updates, government schemes, and monthly current affairs PDFs), you can easily prepare this in less time compared to Quant or Reasoning.

    English Writing Skills (Phase 2)

This 100-mark paper is completely descriptive. It includes an essay, précis writing, and reading comprehension.

    Why is it scoring?

    • If you practice just 2–3 essays per week and understand the structure of a précis, you can score above 60 with ease.
    • Topics are usually general or social, nothing too technical.

Finance and Management – Objective Portion (Paper 3)

Finance, especially the basics (like the Indian financial system, inflation, and money market instruments), is very predictable.

    Why is it scoring?

    • Fixed syllabus, repeated topics, and direct questions.
    • Good static preparation + monthly revision = easy 30+ marks.

    Reasoning (Phase 1)

Yes, puzzles are tough. But this section can still be scored if you master the basics like syllogism, inequality, blood relations, and direction sense.

    Why is it scoring?

    • High weightage (60 marks)
    • Solving 3-4 puzzles confidently can push your score well above the cutoff.

Static ESI (Paper 1 – Economic & Social Issues)

If you go through the NCERTs and selected chapters from standard books, you can handle the objective questions well.

    Why is it scoring?

    • Repeat questions based on concepts like GDP, poverty, and budget trends.
    • Not as dynamic as current affairs, so once you’ve studied the basics, you’re set.

    Expected RBI Grade B Notification

As per past trends, the RBI Grade B notification announcement hasn’t been consistent. But considering the past pattern, the notification is usually announced after approximately 7 months of the final result declaration.

If we follow the same pattern for the year 2025, then we can expect the RBI Grade B 2025 notification anytime between July and August 2025. That means the ideal time to start preparing is now. By starting early, you get enough time to focus on the scoring sections, revise them well, and build confidence.

    Final Words

The RBI Grade B syllabus may be detailed, but your preparation doesn’t have to feel chaotic. By identifying the most scored sections, General Awareness, English Writing, Finance (Objective), Reasoning, and static ESI, you create a study plan that saves time and gives maximum output.

So stop trying to cover everything. Start covering what matters.

Because at the end of the day, the RBI Grade B exam isn’t about knowing it all, it’s about understanding what scores.
